/ PROJECT HISTORY
Since April 2026, Topographica has been supporting Landify US on a 67.7-acre landscape restoration project located in Santiago Canyon, near the City of Orange, California. Known as the “Sully Miller Site” among the local community, it has served as sand and gravel mine for almost a century (1919-1995) and has been the subject of competing visions for 50 years. Landify’s project consists of a green space shared by the local community for rest, exercise, contemplate, horseback riding. As an extension of ECT Group, a French firm specializing in the repurposing of excavated earth since the 1970s, Landify US aims to restore the Sully Miller Site by forming a new terrain using soil they will gather and revive across Southern California.
/ THE CHALLENGE
Transforming a 67.7-acre site that currently doesn’t generate nuisances, but one that doesn’t serve the local community, into a desirable environmental masterpiece that adds to Santiago Canyon’s green belt.
/ FROM CAD TO SLO
Based on CAD data from Landify and the City of Orange Urban Planners, we produced photorealistic 3D artist views and flyover reels of the restored site, enabling all stakeholders identify a desirable future for this site. This culminated in Mayoral and HOA buy-ins, as well as a unanimous (7-0) City Council vote, settling 50 years of competing visions.

Topographica acquired high-fidelity gaussian splats of the entire site’s surroundings, ensuring photorealism and the seamless integration of the artist’s view in the existing landscape.
/ CAD FILE INGESTION AND 3D MODELING
Working from Landify’s and the City of Orange’s CAD files, we designed 3D artist views and flyover reels of the restored landscape, from dusty quarry to desirable community space.
FLORISTIC RESEARCH /
Topographica populated the site with clusters of plants that are native to our floristic region. The site becomes a moving painting to be marveled at and traversed by the local community.
From CAD to SLO, we helped Landify US secure Mayoral and HOA approval, as well as a unanimous (7-0) City Council vote in August 2026.

67-acre restoration project with Landify US

Since April 2026, Topographica has been backing Landify US to restore a 67-acre site located in Santiago Canyon, in Orange, California.
Known as the “Sully Miller Site,” it served as a sand and gravel mine for almost a century (1919-1995), and has been the subject of several transformation plans since the 1970s.
Landify’s vision consists of a green space for the local community to rest, exercise, contemplate, and ride horses, expanding Santiago Canyon’s green belt.
Topographica deployed aerial intelligence, ingested Landify’s CAD files, designed 3D artist views and flyover reels of the finished site, engaged in botany research to gently populate the site with plants native to our floristic region, and produced NIMBY defense before/after shots.
The result? From CAD to SLO, we helped Landify US secured Maroyal and HOA approval, as well as a unanimous (7-0) city council vote in August 2026, all settling a 50-year history of competing visions for the site.

The Biophilia Treehouse
Encino, CA / February 2023–present /
Biophilia Treehouse is also conceived as an outdoor classroom, a community storytelling center, and a sequence of stepping stones designed to restore landscape connectivity across LA County.
The first Biophilia Treehouse was conceived and produced at the UCLA Design Media Arts fablab and installed in Encino, CA, on the grounds of the Holy Spirit Retreat Center stewarded by the Sisters of Social Service.

Drones and L.A. Water Narratives
UCLA Design Media Arts / Winter 2024 /
Students focused on the Los Angeles Aqueduct, a critical water conveying system that brings life to our homes and campus, from Sylmar, CA, to Mono Lake.
The class culminated in a 132-page book students co-designed, printed and bound at the UCLA Design Media Arts print lab.
This class earned Yogan Muller the 2024 UCLA Unit-18 Professional Development Award and was featured in the Spring 2024 UCLA SOAA faculty spotlight, and in the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) magazine in July 2024.
